Ochsenhau Round

For this circular route, we start in the small hamlet of Heidhöfe, which offers ample parking spaces. In the village center, a visit to the Kolomankapelle is worthwhile; it was lovingly and enthusiastically built by the Heidhöfe residents in 2007. A detour to the ponds on the Rauhe Wiese is also worth it. On a nature trail, you can learn much astonishing information about these water holes with their special plant and animal life. The circular path then leads through the "Fairy Tale Forest" of Ochsenhaus, where impressive spruces can be admired. There is also a barbecue area on the forest edge that invites you to rest.

Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. A backpack with water, snacks, and a first aid kit is recommended.

When wet, some paths can be slippery and dangerous. Watch your steps and use hiking poles for stability if necessary.

RE5/MEX16 to Geislingen/Steige, then bus lines 950 or 958 to "Böhmenkirch Post." You can reach the starting point of the route after about a 40-minute walk.

Avoid dawn and dusk if possible. Observe the prohibition of access to agriculturally used areas during the growing season. Stay on the marked paths and avoid forest edges so that wildlife can better get used to humans.
