The circular route starts at the Stauferlandhalle and leads up to Staufeneck. After the ascent, for a small fee, you can climb the tower to get a great view of the district of Göppingen. On clear days, the view extends over the Voralb region to the Stuttgart TV tower and from Teck to Hohenstaufen. The path leads through lush, natural beech forests along the Geißrücken. Along the way, depending on the season, a magnificent fauna and flora with many wildflowers and grasses accompany us. At the signpost Wannenhof – Etzberg, we turn left and via the farm “Hinteren Etzberg” continue along the forest, through fields and meadows to Krummwälden, a district of the town Eislingen. Here, a detour to the Jakobskirche is recommended. Inside are impressive artworks, a shrine altar with two wings, and uncovered wall paintings. Passing a hiking car park, we walk uphill from where we can catch a first glimpse of the monument-protected Schachenmayr settlement with its half-timbered houses. Furthermore, there is a wonderful view over the mid Fils valley. From here we walk down into the village and through residential areas back to Stauferlandhalle. Shortly before the goal, the Schachenmayr outdoor pool invites you to linger and cool off with much historic charm.

Schachenmayr Company
The spinning mill building of the former Schachenmayr company in Salach tells a long industrial history. The Schachenmayr company operated a globally known wool production for many years and left its traces in Salach. Despite financial difficulties, the company built an outdoor pool that is still gladly used by the people of Salach today. In addition, the well-preserved and architecturally attractive workers' settlement of the company can be visited.
