JULIANA TRAIL - stage 18: Pod Ježo mountain hut - Korada

An exceptionally scenic and moderately demanding path is part of the Peace Trail from the Alps to the Adriatic as well as part of the connecting Trail of the Three Sanctuaries.

The Kolovrat ridge, which forms a natural barrier between the Friulian Plain and the Soča Valley, was used by military units during the Soča Front. Along the path, you can observe many remains from this period, including road infrastructure, caverns, water troughs, and reservoirs. Particularly interesting are the fortified Italian positions at Globočak, where there is also a memorial. The route leads us past an interesting ethnological collection in Lukče's house in Kambreško, where you can see a kitchen with a stone hearth, which is an ethnological monument of local significance. The path continues to the pilgrimage church Marijino Celje above Lig, then towards the church of St. Gendra under Korada and the summit of Korada, which is the highest point of the stage, where Italian King Victor Emmanuel III observed the front with his generals. From there, you can see the Julian Alps, the Soča Valley, Venetian Slovenia, the Friulian Plain, and the Adriatic Sea.

Just before the finish, you can refresh yourself with local dishes at the "Na skednju" refreshment point in Vrtače, or end the stage at the refuge on Korada.
