Start at the wooden fountain in Valendas along the main road towards Ilanz. Turn right at the first junction and walk along the inner courtyard stone wall. The typical inner courtyards of Valendas are traditionally planted with fruit trees, where green woodpeckers and edible dormice find shelter in old trees. After the last house, you go through the heat-loving heather-pine forest and along a meadow to the viewing platform "Alix" with a magnificent view of the Rhine Gorge! Then continue around the Altaun hill. The plant diversity of the Altaun is characterized by its protected location and the associated dryness and warmth. Back in the village, it is worth looking out for house martins at the stables, which nest in Valendas.
