Opis

From Weilburg , the Lahn and thus also the Lahn Cycle Route follow numerous bends. This is probably what makes the charm of the changed landscape from here on again. Often, there is a feeling of being secluded from the world. You glide peacefully through pure nature along the romantic Middle Lahn and admire gems like Villmar or Runkel, and around every bend, a new postcard view awaits. Before you know it, the famous Limburg Cathedral appears high above the Lahn on the horizon.

The medieval old town of Limburg invites you to a stroll with its numerous lovingly restored half-timbered houses, small shops, cafés, and restaurants.

The Lahn Cycle Route now leads into the romantic lower Lahn valley. You leave Hesse and now cycle through Rhineland-Palatinate, where you are greeted by the picturesque Orange town Diez . Here you find two worthwhile castles, Oranienstein Palace and the Count's Castle, both housing museums.

Informácie o trase
Trasa

From Weilburg station, the Lahn Cycle Route leads with a view of the river and Weilburg Castle to the Stone Bridge. You cross this and keep right at the end of the bridge into Hainallee. From here, you follow the river course on the left bank through Kirschhofen to Fürfurt and then on to Aumenau. Here too, you stay on the left of the Lahn and continue leisurely to Villmar. There, the Lahn is crossed at the Marble Bridge. Villmar is known as the "Home of Lahn Marble" and a visit to the Lahn Marble Museum with the natural monument Unica Quarry is worthwhile.

On the right bank of the Lahn, the route continues to Runkel. The stone bridge with the castle in the background is a popular photo motif. You cross the bridge and then have a choice. For a detour to the legendary ice cream parlor, keep briefly left. The Lahn Cycle Route, however, leads right immediately after the bridge. You should definitely allow some time to visit the castle. On Burgstraße, you now pass through the fairytale-like Runkel, then follow a short section of L3063 where you cross the Lahn again.

From here, you continue leisurely along the Lahn. Well signposted, the path now leads over Steeden and Dehrn to Dietkirchen. High above the Lahn, the St. Lubentius Basilica towers on a rock. Below the basilica, you will find pleasant rest areas. And the last meters to Limburg are pure cycling joy. With a view of Limburg Cathedral, you roll towards the old Lahn bridge, which you ultimately cross. Those who want to continue to Diez should definitely visit the picturesque half-timbered old town of Limburg. The cathedral must be seen, of course also from inside. And with the "Roman 2-4-6", Limburg has one of the oldest free-standing half-timbered houses in Germany. Numerous cafés and excellent restaurants invite you to stop in the lively alleys.

To get to Diez, keep right behind the old Lahn bridge and cycle comfortably along the left bank of the Lahn. At Staffel, you leave Hesse and now cycle through Rhineland-Palatinate. The small town of Diez welcomes you with two noteworthy castles but also with one of the few noticeable inclines. Both castles, Oranienstein Palace and the Count's Castle, house interesting museums. In Diez, you also find romantic half-timbered facades and hospitable cafés and restaurants.
