Lahnwanderweg 04. Stage upstream Buchenau - Biedenkopf

The start is on the Lahn bridge in Buchenau. Following the signs, you walk along a meadow path always alongside the Lahn. Then gather your strength, as it goes uphill. One last glance back at Buchenau and then at the "Wolfsgeschirr" junction, the news of a deadly mission awaits. Because in the year 1747, the last wolf in the region was killed at this spot.

Now you go along the idyllic Katzenbach, which is crossed over a wooden bridge. A short uphill section must still be overcome, and then the path leads further into the Katzenbach valley. At the valley end, the smallest district of Biedenkopf with just 30 inhabitants is reached: Katzenbach. A romantic spot on earth – and there is even a place to rest and refresh. Through the forest uphill it goes now to the Landgrafenbuche. The stately natural monument watches over a very branched junction with all sorts of direction signs. The old, almost historic, signpost is brilliant and testifies to a long hiking tradition in the region.

The area at Rahmbusch (441 m) is a flora-fauna habitat and offers pure tranquility. Past the hiking parking lot, the path continues along the forest edge. Soon you reach the shelter at the "Lippershardt" snack place. Here you learn some things about the tradition of the border crossers. Further it goes over the Frauenberg, where you hike parallel to the "Lahnhöhen-Extratour" above the cemetery along the forest edge. Then just down to Biedenkopf. The end of the stage is directly at the train station, which you reach via the railway crossing. The spa town lies on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia, offers a quaint old town and even a castle! If there is still time, you should definitely visit it.

Normal hiking equipment required. Bring packed lunch and drinks.
