In our house, you will experience a special, harmonious blend of art objects and paintings, classic design, and traditional rural elements – combined with great care, sensitivity, and natural ease to create an atmosphere that is both exciting and cozy.

Surroundings:

Our holiday residence was built at 1,150 meters above sea level in the Pongau region, formerly serving as the “Austraghaus” of the Scherergut farm, high above Bischofshofen, and offers a magnificent view of the Hochgrüneck. It is located in the heart of the Salzburg region with excellent transport connections (A10 motorway, Pongau junction 9 km away) to all attractions and is accessible by car all year round. After doing your shopping in Bischofshofen (7 km away), you may also choose not to return to the valley until your departure.

If you prefer not to cook, you can reach two cozy mountain inns within walking distance (15 min / 25 min walking time): “Rostatt” (table reservation requested) and “Mossut Alm”, both inviting you to linger and enjoy regional specialties.

At a distance of 5.5 km, at the foot of the mountain, you will find “Bürglhöh”, one of the award-winning gourmet inns of the “Genussregion Österreich”.

Our sports and cultural town of Bischofshofen (11,000 inhabitants) can be reached in seven kilometers and is well known for hosting the annual final ski jumping event of the Four Hills Tournament. In addition to an idyllic, traffic-calmed shopping promenade with small specialty shops and cozy cafés, you will also find a shopping center and several supermarkets.

The railway hub in Bischofshofen offers EC/IC/REX connections, providing fast access to Salzburg (e.g. the airport), other holiday regions, or directly from home to us.

Salzburg is always worth a visit and is located approximately 50 km away.

Winter Activities:

Right from our doorstep, you can step directly onto the longest ski route in the Eastern Alps. This route leads via the Knappensteig to the Arthurhaus. Experienced and locally knowledgeable ski tourers also use the direct return route from our idyllic natural snow ski area Hochkeil (distance by ski approx. 8 km) back to the holiday home.

Experience the “Königstour” in the nearest large ski area “Hochkönig” with 120 perfectly groomed and interconnected kilometers of slopes 14 km away.
Alternatively, at a similar distance, you can access the ski area “Salzburger Sportwelt” in St. Johann / Alpendorf.
Further ski areas of “Ski Amadé”, such as Schladming/Dachstein, Gastein, or Großarltal, can also be used with your Hochkönig ski pass.

Sledding fun for children is offered by the natural toboggan run “Mossott Alm”, 1,000 m away.

Paragliding in winter is also very popular. In Bischling, 27 km away, you will be taken to THE flying mountain of the Salzburg region and take off.

A wonderful activity for young and old alike is ice skating in Bischofshofen, 7 km away. The ice rink opens when temperatures are sufficiently low, and skates can be rented on site.

A horse-drawn sleigh ride offers a truly special experience to enjoy the winter mountain landscape in a relaxed way – lean back and let your soul unwind.

The Advent and Christmas season is particularly atmospheric. Bischofshofen and the Hochkönig region (Maria Alm, Dienten, Mühlbach) invite you with Advent markets, Advent music, church services, as well as Perchten and Krampus runs to immerse yourself in Alpine traditions and folklore.

We rent out our holiday home Fern-Sinnesnah starting from a minimum stay of 7 days.
In winter, the access road is regularly cleared, ensuring that our holiday home is comfortably accessible by car all year round. For added safety under winter conditions, we nevertheless recommend snow chains, especially for larger vehicles without all-wheel drive.
