Riihimäki Kormu-Poronpolku 45.3km

Departure from the parking lot of Kormu Riutta outdoor area, from where the route heads towards challenging trail sections towards Paalijärvi. At the Paalijärvi junction, you can still take a break at the beach. When reaching Mustamäentie, the route makes a loop via Mustamäki. This can easily be bypassed along the road if desired. After Mustamäki, a gravel road section begins, continuing all the way to the vicinity of Pitkäjärvi. From there, you start approaching the outdoor trails of Lopen kirkonkylä. After Loppijärvi, you can still visit the historic old church of Loppi near the route or take a dip at the kirkonkylä beach. You can also refuel by using various services of Loppi. Then begins a long and varied trail section before Huhtala lean-to, where it is good to take a short break. After Huhtala lean-to, there is a longer crossing of a logging clearing, where late summer the trail may disappear completely from sight due to tall vegetation. Upon reaching Nummenrannantie, you ascend Mansikkamäki, where the trail continues along the ridge. Then you start approaching the pine forest terrain of Poronpolku and its extensive needle paths.

Hiking boots and good trekking gear.

On rainy weather, roots and rocks are slippery and wetlands may be wet. Late summer also has a lot of vegetation, so the path may disappear from view in places. It is advisable to bring a map and compass.

Turn onto road 12 to Kormu Herajoentie, from where you turn onto Riutta parking lot. From road 54 turn onto Herajoentie, from where you turn to Riutta parking lot.

Starting from Loppi, you will find the Lynx Trail parking lot next to the old church. The address is Kirkkoraitti 1.

The bus runs between Riutta - Riihimäki travel center. Check schedules on Pekola Traffic's website.

Bus 5/6 runs between Hiivola - Riihimäki railway station. At the railway station, choose stop Railway Station D. Check routes and schedules from Matkahuolto's route guide. Travel time 25 minutes.
