"Le chemin des mineurs" Greenway
This path followed the right-of-way of the old railroad line, which was used to transport coal as well as miners between the Gaillaguès site (workshops, washhouse) and the Cagnac mines from 1894 to 1950. Today, the greenway connects the city of Albi to Cagnac-les-Mines (passing near the school and the mining museum) and the Cap’ Découverte facilities in Blayes-les-Mines, whether on foot or by bike.Over a distance of 16 km, from the Albi waste collection center in Gaillaguès to Blayes-les-Mines, you’ll follow the edge of the plateau to the site of the Church of St-Dalmaze, then continue on to Cagnac-les-Mines, the departmental mining museum and reach the Maison de Cap’ Découverte. After passing through the Cap’ Découverte facilities, you’ll continue your route along the washhouse to reach the “Croix du Marquis” roundabout, located between the towns of Carmaux and Blaye-les-Mines.
Horseback riders: The greenway is a trail designed for walking. Trotting and galloping are not permitted.
Cyclists: Be sure to make your presence known to other users! “Dringdring” or “hello” are positive signals. The golden rule is to yield to slower users. Don’t forget your helmet, and always carry water and a repair kit.
Environment: To preserve the natural setting of our greenway, dispose of your trash in the designated areas. Avoid picking flowers—which are essential for butterflies, bees, and other insects—and fruit, which inevitably belongs to someone. Stay on the marked and maintained trails and routes
