The Hevossaari loop paddles through the straits and narrow passages between the nearby islands. In sheltered bays, it is easy to observe waterfowl, aquatic plants, and other nature. The route is interestingly varied with small bridge underpasses. At the western tip of Hevossaari in the Honkasaari narrow passage, there is an old monument. Before returning to Sinilähde, there is a nice small sandy bay suitable for resting. The trip can end with swimming at Sinilähde beach.
You can easily extend your trip by also circling Vasikkasaari or Korpinmaa, which takes you to the edges of the large open waters of Ruotsalainen, and the distance is about 12 km.
Alternatively, you can start the Hevossaari loop from the Spa Beach in Heinola city center, which depending on your route choice offers 17-20 km. This route option includes more open lake areas.

The route is suitable for kayak, open canoe, packraft backpack raft, or SUP board intended for touring use.
Always wear a life vest, regardless of the vessel you are using.
The route is sheltered and thus suitable for paddling even in windy weather if you stay in the narrow passages.
Watch out for boat traffic and keep clear of the fairways. Especially near the Sinilähde marina, there is occasionally a lot of boat traffic, although most of the route is sheltered and quiet.
If you make a longer trip by circling Korpinmaa and/or Vasikkasaari, note the wind exposure of the large open lake area of Ruotsalainen.
Parking space available on Kaarikuja near the boat harbor.
Do not park in front of the boat ramp. Leave enough turning space for boat trailers.

You can also start the Hevossaari loop from the Spa Beach in Heinola city center.
The waters near Sinilähde (including Nyynäistenlahti towards Myllyoja, south from Sinilähde) are also suitable for SUP boarding.
The suggested route is also nice for rowing with a small boat, but due to low and narrow bridge underpasses, it is not suitable for church boats.
