The second option, which is 2 hours longer, is better suited for cycling and crosses the classic landscape of the Vercelli plain, largely cultivated with rice fields, then continues into the Bosco della Partecipanza of Trino, an important natural site from both a historical and environmental perspective. Passing through Lucedio, a Cistercian abbey from 1123, is by itself worth the entire stage. Desana’s center with its castle is also of interest. Arriving in Vercelli, a strategic hub on the Via Francigena, with its monuments and museums, is an essential part of any pilgrimage route.
