Bärwurzkar Loop | Trailrunning Route 08

The route starts at the valley station of the Grünwaldkopfbahn. First, you run comfortably over forest and meadow paths up to the Felseralm at about 1,655 m. There the trail takes on more character and leads you further through slightly rolling terrain towards the Johannes Waterfall at about – a scenic highlight already after just under 4 km.

Then the path continues steadily uphill into the Bärwurzkar, past the Alm of the same name at about 1,693 m. Enjoy a short break there before the path continues uphill – partly over narrower, trail-typical passages.

From here you switch back to gravel and meadow paths and reach the Kehralm after about 12 km. From there, the last section takes you comfortably downhill back to the Grünwaldkopfbahn and completes the loop after a total of about 14.8 km with approximately 640 m of elevation gain at the starting point.

TIP: If you want to travel by public transport, the postbus line 280 stops directly in Obertauern.
