From Capanna Cornavòsa the day starts with a demanding climb up to the ridge, at 2006 meters above sea level, the highest point of this route, then descends to Alpe Fümegna. This section of the route between the Cornavòsa and Fümegna huts is part of the Via Alta Verzasca (VAV), therefore it is marked in blue-white and includes exposed sections where surefootedness and absence of vertigo are necessary.
The alpine landscape here is fabulous and there is nothing but nature and silence. Capanna Fümegna (June-October) is located on the homonymous alp, where many animals graze in summer (June-August). At the hut you can have a drink, stay overnight and buy cheese.
The return to Lavertezzo follows a red-white path, which, like the outward journey, passes through Val Pincascia. Those who prefer to skip Alpe Fümegna can descend the same trail back from Capanna Cornavòsa. The bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno line) passes through Lavertezzo.
