The route is part of the Thuringian Luther Trail.
Starting at the cathedral square of the state capital Erfurt, the route takes you along the Gera river through Hochheim, Bischleben, Möbisburg, Molsdorf Castle, Ichtershausen, Arnstadt, Dornheim with the wedding church of Johann Sebastian Bach, Angelhausen-Oberndorf, Hausen, Görbitzhausen, Niederwillingen, Griesheim, Singer Berg to Paulinzella with its impressive monastery ruins from the 12th century.
