Immediately after the start, you come to Stachelsrain with a beautiful view of Mehlis. Take a souvenir photo with yourself and this idyllic background at our specially installed outdoor photo frame. A few meters further you see the "Hans Renner" children's and youth ski jump. Over the nature trail with interesting panels about local fauna and flora you will reach the Reifweg after 3.3 km. Keep right and do not miss the view from the "Gebrannter Stein" (897 m) at 4.5 km. For that, you have to leave the path to the left into the forest (signpost). The plateau at Veilchenbrunnen (spring) with the eponymous mountain lodge invites you to linger. Continue to "Sterngrund" (also with inn, 7.1 km). After crossing the main road (caution!) a natural path leads into the Lubenbachtal. Here you come to an asphalt road (little traffic), which you turn right onto. At 7.6 km you reach the Technical Museum "Gesenkschmiede" . A visit to this historic, listed building is highly recommended. Last chance to stop at the hotel "Waldmühle". After about 1.5 km you are back at the starting point.

The hiking trail requires sturdy footwear. You will partly walk on narrow paths. Avoid walking on moss-covered stones and rocks due to the risk of slipping and watch out for dead wood, branches, and possible obstacles.
Be aware of the typical forest hazards! Walking is at your own risk!

Coming via the A71 exit at AS 18 Oberhof/Zella-Mehlis. Continue towards Markt Mehlis, Alte Straße -> parking available to the right at the sports ground
