From here the ascent begins along a small road that quickly enters the forest, where the setting becomes quieter and more immersive. The initially paved surface soon gives way to dirt road, accompanying the hiker in an increasingly authentic and scenic natural environment.
The trail leads to Rifugio Tita Barba, a welcoming structure and a privileged point for a rest, from which there is a splendid view of the Spalti di Toro chain, which dominates the horizon with its imposing rock walls. The hike is suitable for hikers with a basic or intermediate level of training and is a pleasant ascent amid nature and Dolomite panoramas.
The return is along the same route, allowing you to appreciate the landscape again from a different perspective.
From the center of Pieve di Cadore descend on a paved road to the dam. You then take the small uphill road that enters the forest. The ground becomes dirt until you reach the Tita Barba Refuge. The return is along the same route to Pieve di Cadore.
Hiking boots or shoes with good soles, layered clothing, windproof/waterproof jacket, backpack with water and snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, map or GPS.

Pieve di Cadore can be reached from Belluno by taking the SS51 Alemagna road in the direction of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The journey is about 40 kilometers long, with a travel time of about 40 minutes.
To reach the starting point of the hike to Rifugio Tita Barba by public transportation, it is necessary to arrive in Pieve di Cadore, the main center of Cadore easily connected by both train and bus. The most convenient solution involves the train to the Calalzo-Pieve di Cadore-Cortina station, served by regional connections from Venice, Treviso, and Belluno. Alternatively, it is possible to use the suburban buses of Dolomiti Bus.
