The most important attraction, the Wäscher Castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hohenstaufen, on which once stood the ancestral castle of the Staufer dynasty. While only the foundations of the castle can be seen there today, the "Wäscherschlössle," as it is affectionately called, has survived the Middle Ages well and is one of the best-preserved Staufer castle complexes. According to legend, the Wäscher Castle was originally the court laundry of the Staufer. This is said to be the origin of the name "Wäscher Castle." However, this origin is unlikely due to the distance from the nearest flowing water, the Beutenbach. Also, the legendary Staufer Emperor Frederick Barbarossa supposedly fell in love with a beautiful laundress and bequeathed the castle to her, but this is not confirmed. Nevertheless, the laundress with washboard is still depicted in the municipality's coat of arms today.

The Anniversary Route was established in 2002 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Wäschenbeuren local group of the Swabian Alb Association. The hike starts at the school car park and leads into the village center. In the town hall quarter there is a library and a café, which are located directly at the town hall fountain. The fountain impressively tells the story of Beuremer.
Off the hiking route stands the old train station, which served as a stop on the railway line between Schwäbisch Gmünd and Göppingen from 1912. This line, colloquially known as the "Josefle" Hohenstaufen railway, was closed in 1984 due to economic difficulties.
The route continues through idyllic countryside and past orchards towards Wäscher Castle and the Wäscher farm, followed by a visit to the forest playground. On the way back, the route leads over Galgenberg, which once served as the execution site of the Wäschenbeuren manor, back to the starting point.
Wear sturdy, slip-resistant footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. A backpack with water, snacks and a first aid kit is recommended.
Some paths can be slippery and dangerous when wet. Watch your step and use walking sticks for stability if necessary.
Take RE 5 or MEX 16 from Stuttgart or Ulm to Göppingen station. From there, bus lines X93, 931 and 932 run to Wäschenbeuren to the "Marktplatz" stop. Your route starts on foot about 5 minutes away from the stop.
