The town of Süßen is centrally located in the district of Göppingen. Its beautiful location at the confluence of the Fils and Lauter rivers makes you want more. The half-timbered houses and water wheel, market fountain, and farmer's garden in the dreamy town center reflect times gone by. Cultural, sporting, and social facilities as well as a wide range of events ensure a high quality of life.
As part of the leisure path concept of the district of Göppingen, the Grünenberg circular route was created together with the Süßen Local Agenda, the "Environment-Climate-Energy" group, and the Swabian Alb Association local group Süßen. It lies in the FFH area (flora-fauna habitats for the protection of plants, animals, and life types) and in the bird protection area.

The circular route begins at the retention basin and leads along the heaps towards Gingen. Through the new underpass of the B 10, you pass the natural monument Sarenwang, which, with its wet meadows, represents a valuable biotope. Before reaching the forest, you can still enjoy the beautiful view back from Hohenstaufen over Staufeneck to Messelberg. The ascent in the forest impresses with magnificent fern fields and rock formations of the Brown Jura. At the end of the forest, on the height, lies the interesting wet biotope "Turm", which has developed in a former clay pit. The circular route continues towards Grünenberg and shortly before, it goes downhill to the right through a gorge forest with a viewpoint in Sarenwang. At the end of the forest, a wide panoramic view opens over the Filstal and the surrounding mountains. Across a hilly meadow landscape and past Prinzinghof, you reach the starting point again.
Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. A backpack with water, snacks, and first aid equipment is recommended.
When wet, some paths can be slippery and dangerous. Watch your step and use hiking poles for stability if necessary.

T1
Respectful coexistence in the district of Göppingen.
Code of conduct:
Respect path closures and the quiet zones developed in the leisure path concept. Leave no traces such as litter or animal droppings; treat your path with care. Act proactively and considerately. Adapt your behavior to the respective situation. Safety comes first. Respect other users of forest and countryside. Take care of animals and plants. Plan ahead and use daylight. Try to avoid dusk in the morning and evening. Observe the ban on entering agriculturally used fields during the growing season. Stay on designated paths and avoid forest edges so wild animals can better get used to humans.More information at ruecksicht-macht-wege-breiter.de
Detour after the route:
Süßen has housed an art foundry - Strassacker - since the beginning of the 20th century, which today manufactures artworks, sacred art or tombstones from metals across Europe. A selection of various castings can be viewed at the foundry. Strassacker offers a wonderful selection of various objects on 800 m² in a gallery, as well as on over 8000 m³ of outdoor space in a picturesque garden.
