Castle round

You start your hike in Hohenschwangau and initially follow the paved road uphill towards Neuschwanstein Castle. Already before the castle, a magnificent viewpoint rewards you with a wide view over Forggensee and the Schwangau foothills.

Then you continue hiking to the "Jugend" bus stop, where you can enjoy fantastic views of Hohenschwangau Castle and Alpsee along the way. From "Jugend," you take the descent towards Hohenschwangau/Alpsee. Once you reach the bottom, follow the path to Hohenschwangau Castle and then the Alpenrosenweg towards Füssen/Ziegelwies.

Arriving in Ziegelwies, you cross the Maxsteg directly over the impressive Lechfall waterfall and thus reach Bad Faulenbach. From there, you follow the idyllic Faulenbachgässchen, which leads you along the Lech River directly into the old town of Füssen. After a short detour through the picturesque old town, you cross the Lech Bridge (Lechhalde) up to Kalvarienberg. From there, you enjoy a fantastic view of the old town of Füssen, the surrounding lakes, and the Alpine range.

A hiking trail then leads you down to Schwansee, which, with its peaceful location and view of Neuschwanstein Castle, is another highlight of this route. Along the lakeshore, you finally return to Hohenschwangau, where the circle of this impressive round route closes.

We recommend: weather-appropriate clothing, hiking shoes, poles, drinks, snacks, and a first aid kit.

With the Schwangau hiking pass for big and little hiking enthusiasts, you have the opportunity to explore our unique natural landscape on your own. As proof of your achievement, you will find a small wooden box with a stamping tool on the respective routes.

Simply stamp the corresponding hiking route in your hiking pass and show it after completing enough hikes at the Tourist Information. There, you will receive a hiking badge as a reward, and the little hiking friends will get a hiking certificate.

The printed Schwangau hiking pass is available free of charge at the Schwangau Tourist Information, the info point in Hohenschwangau, at the Tegelbergbahn valley station, and in the Walderlebniszentrum Ziegelwies.
