The festival cycling route on the west bank of Lake Neusiedl connects some of the most beautiful places in Burgenland and combines cultural highlights with appealing wine and culinary experiences. Along the way, you will encounter the picturesque old town of Rust with its baroque townhouse, can get a look behind the scenes at the festival venues Mörbisch am See and St. Margarethen, and admire the magnificent Esterházy Palace in the Haydn metropolis Eisenstadt. Gourmet pleasures lure at Taubenkobel in Schützen, at the wine academy in Rust, and in the Schlossvinothek Eisenstadt. Quiet culture lovers will probably enjoy alternative offerings – for example, the program of the Cselley Mill in Oslip or the "Place of Freedom," which once wrote European history. This variant of the festival cycling route represents a small partial loop of the festival cycling route.
The partial route/variant runs from Donnerskirchen along the B10 to Oggau and further to Oslip. Via Schützen, it goes back to Donnerskirchen.
Other variants are:
Partial route/variant 2: Rust - St. Margarethen - Trausdorf - Oslip - Oggau - Rust
Partial route/variant 3: Mörbisch - St. Margarethen - Rust - Mörbisch
Partial route/variant 4: Eisenstadt - Schützen - Oslip - Trausdorf - Eisenstadt
Austria: Bicycle helmet compulsory for children up to 12 years. Reflective vests are not compulsory at dusk, darkness, or poor visibility, but certainly advantageous. Here is the Austrian bicycle ordinance.
Slovakia: Bicycle helmet compulsory for all children under 15 years. For adults, helmet duty exists only outside urban areas. However, it is strongly recommended that adults also always wear a bicycle helmet. Cyclists riding at the roadside under reduced visibility must wear visible signaling elements or a reflective vest.
Hungary: There is no helmet requirement for cyclists. The maximum speed for cyclists outside urban areas is 40 km/h. A speed of 50 km/h is allowed if the cyclist wears a helmet. At night and poor visibility, all cyclists must wear a reflective vest.
