The "3 Vineyards Circular Route" connects the three vineyards in the wine idyll South Burgenland: the Eisenberg, the Deutsch Schützen Berg, and the Csaterberg:
Eisenberg: Be sure to experience a sunset here – naturally with a glass of excellent Blaufränkisch in hand, looking out over the vastness of Hungary.
Deutsch Schützen: Finds from Roman times suggest that the Romans already used the region, its weather with the Pannonian climate, and the soil conditions for viticulture.
Csaterberg: Nestled amidst rustling high forests lies – like a lovely island in a nearly unmanageable sea of forests – the Csaterberg wine-growing area with its idyllic cellar lane and romantic cellar cottages.
The starting point of the Three Vineyards Circular Route is at Ratschen in the wine village of Deutsch Schützen. Here in the bistro and starred restaurant "Ratschen" you can experience the typical South Burgenland hospitality, first-class cuisine, and finest wines.
Through vineyards and magnificent forests, the route leads to the Csaterberg. From here, you have a wonderful panoramic view to Eisenberg and towards the west deep into Styria. Especially when the setting sun is on the horizon, it bathes the landscape in warm light and makes the gentle hills shine in golden tones.
Further along the path, you enter a lush green forest landscape again. A magnificent mixed forest with old oak stands awaits to be discovered. The Three Vineyards Circular Route runs here for a short section along the East Austrian Border Trail 07.
A short stretch along the country road soon continues around the Eisenberg. The path is lined with cellar cottages typical of South Burgenland. Tip: Enjoy the magnificent view from the Weinblick viewing platform deep into the valley and far onto the Hungarian lowlands. On clear days the horizon extends endlessly and offers an impressive expansiveness.
Steeply downhill you reach the foot of the Eisenberg, from where you go to the local wine shop at Eisenberg. The path leads along the shady forest edge with a dreamy view of the Eisenberg vineyards further into the village Eisenberg an der Pinka. From here it goes uphill through a forest section to the Deutsch Schützen Vineyard. Through the vineyards you pass the wineries of renowned, also internationally known winemakers of the region.
Back at the starting point, a refreshment at the starred restaurant Ratschen is recommended. Those who want to continue their discovery journey through the world of the three vineyards are exactly in the right place here.

Sturdy hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, and sufficient drinking water are recommended. In the summer months, sun protection and headgear are important; in spring and autumn, a light jacket can be useful. Binoculars are also worthwhile for the viewpoints.
The circular route runs on well-maintainable forest, meadow, and asphalt paths. Sections may be slippery when wet – sturdy footwear is recommended. Please watch out for agricultural traffic and be considerate of nature and vineyard areas.
By car via the B56 to Deutsch Schützen, then follow the direction to Ratschen. Public transport: take the bus to Deutsch Schützen town center, then approx. 20 minutes on foot to the starting point.
Free parking at the starting point/Ratschen
Tip: Be sure to taste a Blaufränkisch DAC Eisenberg – a distinctive wine typical for this region!
28 winemakers from Eisenberg and Deutsch Schützen offer their best 90 wines for sale in the local wine shop Eisenberg. All wines, including Eisenberg DAC, are available at the winemakers' direct prices!
