The winter trail, actively maintained through volunteer efforts, was born from the passion of local users for the sport and has established itself in the forests of Ukonniemi as a winter exercise spot for both locals and tourists. In addition to the maintained trail, there are plenty of paths created by walkers even during winter. For this reason, we recommend cyclists and hikers to either use a gpx track as an aid when navigating the route or use a map as a general guide and enjoy the area's trail network without stress.
The trail is diverse and runs through pine and spruce forests, along the shores of Saimaa, meanders through swamp areas, and offers beautiful wilderness lake views near accommodation and residential areas.
The nearest parking spots to the route are Imatra Ice Hall, the athletics field parking lot, and the Imatra Spa parking lot.
The winter trail is most conveniently accessed from Lammassaari Road towards the Karhumäki pumptrack. Return occurs at the same point.
The route runs east of Lammassaari Road near the shore of Saimaa and it is possible to create a route of a suitable length for yourself, for example by taking shortcuts.
When the trails are hard, fatbikes and studded mountain bikes are suitable for cycling on the trails. After snowfalls, the trail surface is softer and we recommend fatbikes.

The route is actively maintained, but weather conditions can affect the slipperiness of the trails. Exercise caution when crossing ski tracks!
