The La Falaise to Mers-les-Bains hike is a seaside walk combining heritage, nature, and exceptional panoramas.
A route at the heart of the Grand Site de France Baie de Somme With a distance of 5 km and an average duration of 1h30, this medium-level circuit starts on the esplanade of Mers-les-Bains, opposite the Villa "Crépuscule". It is marked in yellow (PR) and offers immersion in the Belle Époque architecture of the seaside resort, a Remarkable Heritage Site.
Highlights of the route Esplanade of Mers-les-Bains: Walk along the beach, lined with 600 colorful villas with refined facades, bearing witness to the seaside golden age of the late 19th century: The Belle Époque.
Ascent to the cliff: The path gently climbs to the top of the cliff, offering a stunning view of the sea and the chalk cliffs.
Notre-Dame de la Falaise: At the top, discover the statue of the Virgin Mary, erected in 1878 to protect sailors. It rests on a 7-meter-high pedestal, rebuilt after the war, and is placed on a German blockhouse.
Panorama over the "Three Sister Towns": In clear weather, admire the view of Le Tréport, Eu, and Mers-les-Bains, as well as the Baie de Somme.
