From Biedenkopf it goes up into the forest and with a small detour to the Columbus Temple you have a wonderful view of the opposite Landgrave Castle. And there are more highlights to follow, such as the Perfstausee. The reservoir was built in 1984 after a flood disaster and is now a popular excursion destination. It provides a home for many birds. And behind Breidenstein it goes up to the highlight of the hike: the Entenberg. With its stately 535 m height, it is the local mountain of Bad Laasphe and a popular starting point for hang gliders and paragliders. But hikers also have a great view of Niederlaasphe and the Lahn Valley here. With beautiful views of Wittgenstein Castle, you finally hike down to Bad Laasphe.
Today's stage starts in the romantic half-timbered town of Biedenkopf with its impressive Landgrave Castle. From the train station, it first goes up to the Amselborn Fountain. The short detour to the Columbus Temple should definitely be planned in. Its original architecture is meant to demonstrate the openness of the citizens of Biedenkopf and from here you have another beautiful view of Biedenkopf Castle.
It continues through beautiful deciduous forest. Enjoy peace and let your soul dangle. At the highest point, we have a fantastic view of the surrounding area. At the shelter "Stehtischler" there is an opportunity to rest. Downhill through the forest it now goes to the recreational area Perfstausee. A stop here is worthwhile. From the sun terrace you have a fabulous view of the lake and the surrounding forested hills.
Well strengthened, you are now prepared for the following uphill section. First, quite moderate through the small town of Breidenstein. But then you have to conquer the ascent to the 535 m high Entenberg. This is rewarded with an impressive view of Niederlaasphe and the Lahn Valley. Like in a model landscape, the trains of the upper Lahn valley railway pass by in the valley. Caution! Don’t forget to write in the summit book in your amazement!
On the further way enjoy a few more wonderful views. Cross the plateau created by storm Kyrill and then it goes steeply downhill to the Hugo-Kracht Hut. From here, it continues down to Bad Laasphe. Views of the North Rhine-Westphalian town and Wittgenstein Castle await us. Through the spa park we finally reach the House of Guests, where our stage ends.
Normal hiking clothing required. Bring a backpack snack and drinks.
