Habitat route - The Mecklenbruch small round (LRR 5)
Like the large round, the small round also starts at the Mecklenbruch car park in Silberborn. For about one kilometer, the large and small rounds run parallel to each other straight ahead. At the beginning of the wooden boardwalk, the rounds separate. Along the small round, you now turn left onto the wooden boardwalk. About 170 m further you reach a small lookout tower, which offers an even more beautiful view of the bog. From here you can look far over the bog area and a small bog lake. On the lookout tower and along the bog boardwalk, some information boards, a ring binder, and a rotatable cube tell you about life in the bog, the formation/history of the bog, and why bogs are so important as habitats. You finally leave the bog boardwalk onto a fine gravel path and reach the next intersection after about 350 m. From this intersection, you can make a short detour (about 250 m) to the Treerock climbing garden, where you can test your agility and climbing skills between the spruce crowns. However, the actual habitat route runs to the left and then again to the left after almost 200 m. You are now at the forest edge, can look towards Silberborn, and walk downhill. About 400 m further, you turn left again. You then pass through a gate, cross an open area, look to the left towards the bog. About 300 m after the first gate, and a slight uphill section, there is a second gate through which you pass. The path will already look familiar to you; you have already come this way on the outbound route. Turn right, and after about 400 m you reach your starting point at the Mecklenbruch car park in Silberborn.
The habitat route is marked in both directions for every walking direction.
sturdy footwear
The habitat route runs mostly on easy-to-walk gravel paths, with short sections over narrow trails. The absolute highlight of this hike is the wooden boardwalk that runs along the raised bog Mecklenbruch. This several hundred meters long wooden boardwalk can be very slippery in damp weather. Be especially careful here not to slip, and wear sturdy footwear!

The raised bog Mecklenbruch has its charm in every season, from the cotton grass bloom in spring to the deep winter, when there can be a lot of snow here due to the altitude.
