Colle del Lys Natural Park | Up there, where nature meet history
Úroveň náročnosti: T2
In this area, at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,600 metres, straddling the lower Susa Valley and the Viù Valley, nature and history intertwine: trails, mountain huts and landscapes – once the setting for...
The wildlife is abundant: you may encounter spotted salamanders, common frogs, green lizards, green skinks and slow worms, and spot kestrels, black grouse, rock partridges, as well as roe deer and wild boar. The landscape is characterised by the block streams of Colle del Lys, imposing flows of brown-red or yellow-orange rock blocks that create a striking contrast with the vegetation. Looking at these rocks means observing deep layers of the Earth that rarely emerge at the surface: due to their geological features, they are listed in the regional geosite register.
By private transport, from Turin, take the road to Lanzo - Germagnano - Viù - Colle del Lys; or from Turin, take the road to Pianezza - Alpignano - Almese - Rubiana - Colle del Lys; or take the Turin ring road - Frejus motorway (A32) - exit at Avigliana - Almese - Rubiana - Colle del Lys.
To reach Colle del Lys from Turin by public transport, the main option is the GTT 1091 suburban line, which connects Turin (usually the Fermi/Rivoli area) to Rubiana/Colle del Lys. The service operates mainly during the summer months, with connections from Porta Susa or via the metro.
The itinerary starts from the Colle del Lys square where you can park your car.
