Granges - Col Bourget: high pastures and partisan battle sites

Departure from Piazza Mario Costa in the village of Granges. Take trail no. 325 to Allevè. From Allevè to Villardamont take the pedestrian path near the bridge at the exit of the hamlet. In Villardamont, follow Via Col Bourget and then Via San Giovanni, with the typical district oven on the right. Exit the village and take a white gravel road that inevitably leads to the Alpe Brun alpine pasture. From here follow the clearly visible signs for the Col Bourget. Upon reaching the pass, return for a short stretch then turn left onto trail no. 325 which leads back to Allevè and finally to Granges.

Trekking boots and poles are recommended.

Along your entire hike, you may encounter livestock guardian dogs. Keep your distance, avoid the grazing area, and adopt a calm and passive behavior.

- Do not undertake the hike alone or inform a trusted person about your intended route.

- Remember that the indicated walking times for the various routes are average and indicative and may vary considerably depending on weather conditions and your abilities; changes in environmental conditions can significantly reduce safety levels.

By car, reach the hamlet of Granges on S.P. 23 del Sestriere and park conveniently in Piazza Mario Costa, near Caffé des Alpes.

ARRIVA bus line from Torino, stop Granges (Albergo Passet). From the stop enter the internal road via Allevé and reach Piazza Mario Costa and Caffé des Alpes. Behind Caffé des Alpes, take Via degli Alpini up to the fountain and then turn left entering the trail to Allevé.

Arriving at Allevè, the Notre Dame des Neiges Chapel deserves a visit (open to the public in July and August).

Good practices include:

- Do not litter but if necessary carry rubbish with you;

- Respect private properties and restricted areas;

- Open and close electric fences of shepherds' enclosures with the proper handles;

- Always keep dogs on a leash;

- Always carry a garbage bag;

- Keep your distance and do not approach shepherd dogs guarding the flocks.

Crossing the hamlets of Allevè and Villardamont, you can notice the characteristic alpine architecture, faithfully preserved through restorations.
