Thanks to several cross-connections, the length of the routes can be varied individually. “Enjoy leisurely”: The well-known wine town of Deidesheim can be explored on two barrier-free circular walks. In Bad Dürkheim, the extensive spa park with its Kneipp facility and graduation tower invites you to stop by. Numerous publicly accessible artworks can be admired in Gönnheim, and in Haßloch, in addition to the barrier-low cultural quarter with the “Oldest House,” a visit to the bird park is worthwhile. Hovering above Neustadt an der Weinstraße is Hambach Castle, the cradle of German democracy. A barrier-free adventure tour leads through the historic old town of the wine metropolis.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate behavior in nature
Travel considerately - Always behave predictably, kindly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way. This is especially true on agricultural paths where winemakers, farmers, and foresters also work on weekends. Picnic & litter - Remember a rubbish bag for the way and take waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics. Nature conservation - Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at twilight at the latest to not disturb the rhythm of nocturnal animals.More information at www.pfalz.de/uffbasse
The Vine & Root Round is continuously signposted and marked with a corresponding route logo (carrot and red grape on a white background). Thanks to some signposted and also barrier-free developed cross-connections, the route can be individually adjusted and shortened - for example between Forst and Niederkirchen, Deidesheim and Niederkirchen, or within Haßloch. In addition, the access routes to and from train stations, scenic town centers, or facilities are also signposted and developed. A sample photo for the barrier-free cycle path signage is stored in the media gallery.

For our cycling routes, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
(Touring) bike; on hillier routes, more gears or electric support provide greater comfort Bicycle helmet bike-appropriate clothing, also for bad weather bicycle bag for storing equipment and provisions sunglasses or protective glasses, also protects against insects smartphone with the Rhineland-Palatinate app for navigation and information on sights, dining options along the route, and more essential tools and spare parts, possibly charging accessories for e-bikes sun protection, especially on routes through fields & vineyardsCycling on agricultural paths - Our cycling routes often run on paths shared with others. We therefore ask for considerate and friendly behavior at all times. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use these agricultural paths through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work – even on weekends. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions, the paths can sometimes be more heavily soiled. Special care is also required when crossing streets in and around Palatinate towns. Path closures and detours must be strictly observed.
Danger situations - Should an emergency arise, quick help is needed. And even though mobile phones can send GPS signals, the classic rescue points are often the fastest option. These are located at places accessible to emergency vehicles. Remember the points with the green signs and a white cross. In case of emergency, return there and give the number on the sign during your emergency call. This way, rescue workers will know where to find you.
The route is accessible via the A650 to Bad Dürkheim or the A65 to Haßloch, Deidesheim, or Neustadt/ Wstr.
Along the route, various train stations offer connections to local and long-distance public transport: Bad Dürkheim, Deidesheim, Haßloch, Neustadt/ Wstr. (long-distance station, not directly on the route), Neustadt-Böbig, and Wachenheim.
Timetable information: via the DB travel information and the DB Navigator app.
Bike transport is allowed in regional trains in the Palatinate (Rhine-Neckar Transport Association (VRN)) - on weekdays between 6 and 9 a.m. for a fee, otherwise free of charge. Passengers, strollers, and wheelchairs are given priority if space is limited.
Please park only in designated parking spaces and always keep access routes for emergency vehicles as well as work paths in the forest and vineyards clear. For overnight stays in campers & caravans, there are specifically designated motorhome parking spaces.
The Vine & Root Round is part of the barrier-free cycling network in the Bad Dürkheim district and the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße and nominated as "Project of the Year" for the Rhineland-Palatinate Tourism Award 2024.
Along the route, there are many experiences that have been certified as "Travel for All" and are accessible with little to no barriers.
