A cycle path runs along the river throughout the entire Main valley, from its source to its mouth – the Main cycle path. In addition, a section of the German Limes cycle path passes through Churfranken, as well as a section of the Three-Country cycle path. Furthermore, the region offers a well-developed network of cycle paths. On your discovery route of our castles & palaces, simply follow the signs in the direction of the individual towns.
The route starts in Wertheim directly at the ship landing stage and continues over the Main bridge on the right side of the Main. Through the stops Kreuzwertheim, Hasloch and Faulbach, you reach Stadtprozelten. The next stage leads through Dorfprozelten and Fechenbach to Collenberg. On the section from Collenberg to Freudenberg, you cross the Main at Kirschfurt and are directly in the historic town of Freudenberg. From now on, you cycle along the left side of the Main until you reach the Franconian wine village of Bürgstadt. Before reaching Miltenberg, you first cross the Erf bridge. Past the romantic half-timbered town, you continue following the signs to the next Main bridge. A short detour straight ahead to Kleinheubach to Löwenstein Castle is recommended here. Returning to the starting point, you go from here over the bridge to the old wine village Großheubach and then via Röllfeld to Klingenberg. There you cross the Main again and cycle through the historically very interesting village of Wörth and on to the Roman town of Obernburg ("Pompeii on the Main"). In Obernburg, you cross the Main again and cycle on the right side of the Main from Elsenfeld to Kleinwallstadt and Sulzbach. In all three towns, a detour to their respective historical buildings, which are located a little outside, is recommended: the Himmelthal Monastery in Elsenfeld-Rück, the Old Castle in Kleinwallstadt and the Altenburg in Sulzbach.
Back to Kleinwallstadt, you cross the Main again and cycle via Niedernberg to Großostheim.

You can reach Wertheim via the A3. The exit is located between Aschaffenburg and Würzburg. Coming from Aschaffenburg, take the Wertheim / Marktheidenfeld exit. From Würzburg, take the Wertheim / Lengfeld exit.
