This via ferrata scores with a great route through solid Silvretta gneiss, allowing you magnificent deep views of the Kops reservoir and a panorama far beyond the summits of Verwall and Silvretta. After a demanding climb through the northwest face of the 2,671 meter high Ballunspitze, you reach the summit of this scenic border mountain between Tirol and Vorarlberg.
Access: Take the Alpkogel cable car or park in the paid parking lot at the Ballunspitz cable car. From the top station of the Alpkogel cable car, follow the marked path towards “Klettersteig Silvapark” to the entry.
Descent: The descent follows the trail tracks northwestwards downhill from the summit. Some parts are secured with footholds and clamps to assist with the descent. At about 2,250 meters you will meet the access path again, which leads back to the Alpkogel cable car top station.
The access path leads from the top station of the Alpkogel cable car to the top station of the Ballunspitz cable car and then to the entry rock. At about 2,250 m (N46 57.561 E10 07.837), the access branches off to the left, crossing below the rock walls to the entry.
The via ferrata is mostly rated B/C and requires climbing of difficulty grade C/D only in two places. At the summit of Ballunspitze, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view. Exact details can be found in the topo.

The via ferrata is very well secured with a 12 mm thick steel cable as well as footholds and hand grips.
In wet conditions, it is advisable not to attempt the route, as especially the rock slabs and the descent from the summit are then very tricky.
